There was a thread on the Warrior Forum that ran between April 22, 2009 and Jun 23, 2009 titled “Your 3 Favorite Tools You Couldn’t Do Without”.  For those that don’t know the Warrior Forums is one of the oldest, if not oldest, Internet Marketing forums on the net.  There are a lot of heavy hitters in this forum.  Since the knowledge on this form is so deep, I decided to wade thru the post (over 198 at the time of writing) and simply tally up the votes for the various tools.  I excluded some generic things such as “Your Brain”…. duh or “Internet Connection”, etc.

Here is a summary of the responses so far.

I counted each product and here is a list of all those that got at least 4 votes, in popularity order :

# of votes – Product Name and Notes

————————-

20 Votes – Roboform – I use this one every day and it’s become like a microwave – can’t imagine living without it.    This is password management and so much more.  Think of it as a security tool.  There are several versions available, and I use the RoboForm ToGo loaded on a thumb drive.  This allows me to carry  my Roboform everywhere I go.

20 Votes – Aweber – I use this product also.   This is your autoresponder / email management tool that is essential for most marketing campaigns.
As they say, “the money is in the list” and this is the tool that stores and manages “The List”.

19 Votes – Market Samurai – This little (just kidding) tools is taking the internet marketing arena by storm.  Think  of it as a keyword tool on steroids.  The makers of this little baby are regularly updating/ fixing and adding  cool features.  I also own and use this tool.

17 Votes – Google Keyword Tool

14 Votes – Google Analytics

13 Votes – Photoshop – I also own this product (my version is an older one CS2).  The latest version as of this writing  is CS4.  This is the tool of preference for creating and tweaking graphical stuff such as images, logos, buttons, etc.  It is an expensive tool but it’s worth it.  When I got my copy, I found it on eBay (new and  sealed).  Don’t buy used/open versions because Adobe is very tight on their registration security.

12 Votes – Google /Google Search

12 Votes – Firefox – This includes the browser and the many powerful plug-ins available.  There are some really good  ones for SEO monitoring for sites.

12 Votes – Dreamweaver – This is another Adobe product for building websites.  I’ve never used this, but I’ve never heard anything bad about it, and it got great reviews in the Warrior Forum thread.

11 Votes – Wordpress – This is my favorite tool /software !!  This is the foundation of the flexible content management system (CMS) that is used on so many sites (both blogs and traditional sites).  I also use a number of free plug-ins and paid plug-ins that I’ll  after this list.
